Where the trains run

The line runs east–west directly behind Van Metre Field at Ash Park. The green strip is the walking bridge over the tracks, between Old Lincoln Hwy and 8th Ave NW — the best seat in town for counting.

House rules

  1. A train counts if it passes the stadium between opening kickoff and the final whistle.
  2. One train is one train, however long it is. A stopped train that later moves on is still one.
  3. A train and a half is one with an engine buried in the middle and more cars behind it. That counts 1.5. See below.
  4. Maintenance equipment counts half a train — ballast regulators, tampers, hi-rail trucks, the yellow stuff.
  5. Engines running light, with no cars at all, still count as one.
  6. Home games only — the count is about this stretch of track.
  7. The admin logs the official number. Disputes go to the admin.
What a train and a half looks like
one train the half engine in the middle lead engines
Engines up front pulling cars is one train. When another engine turns up mid-consist with more cars behind it, the whole thing scores 1.5.
